Not too long ago, I wrote a post about a childhood hero of mine, Commander Mark Kistler.  So, imagine my delight and surprise when I should receive a comment from the man himself on that post!

This is a win-win.  From his comments, it sounds like he is happy to hear he made an impact on people and that people are still thinking of him.  And obviously it is awesome for me to get a personal comment from someone that I would never have expected to have any contact with.

So, thank you Internet (and Mr. Kistler) for making my day!

I know it has been a while, and I apologize.  It has been a busy and sometimes rough time around here.

Last week we were on vacation in Philadelphia (post forthcoming) and the week before that I had a big deadline at work.  Any time I wasn’t at work I was working from home.  The two weeks before that I was suffering from lack of sleep (another post forthcoming).

So, enough with the excuses, but you’ll have to bear with me because I am still quite exhausted.  So I will try to update as soon as possible.

This year for Halloween, we got something kind of scary…last night, Evie’s eardrum ruptured.

Now apparently it is not as bad as it sounds, and it is actually quite common.  In fact, it is apparently the best thing that could have happened to her because before it happened she was in a lot of pain and supposedly when it ruptures it releases the pressure causing her to feel better.  The doctor said it should re-seal in a day or two.

Anyway, she has severe infections in both ears.  I feel really bad for her since I had chronic ear infections when I was little.  I had tubes in my ears 3 times and probably had hundreds of ear infections through childhood.  As a result I really really hate them and know what she is going through.  I’m really hoping that this is just an isolated incident and she didn’t inherit my tiny ear canals.

Saying she has her daddy’s ears isn’t necessarily a compliment.

Looks like another disciple for the Flying Spaghetti Monster!

I’ll try to make this quick!

3 new teeth for a total of 7 teeth now.  Strangely she got some molars next and they both came in on the same day.  Months and months to get the first ones and then 3 in like a week!  In addition to orange, she can now identify purple and green.  We are working on yellow.  Mostly she just wants to say purple though.  Her favorite thing to do is yell “stop sign!” when she sees one.  She’s putting two words together a lot more.  She likes to count the cats on the calendar.  She won’t say “one” but after that she knows it goes two, three and then four.  We need to get some video of her trying to hop…funniest thing you ever saw.

So how about a flash game?  It’s been a while.

Here is a surprisingly challenging game that involves a rag doll spiderman webbing his way across an endless pit using geometric shapes.  And, as the link submitter promised, the best part of the game is watching the way spiderman’s arms almost get ripped out of their sockets when his web catches.

You may not enjoy the game, but I garuntee you’ll be singing “Oooh black betty, dang a dang” for a day or two.
