E-mail addresses it would be really annoying to give out over the phone

This just struck me as absolutely hilarious, but then describing it later to Sara it somehow didn’t come across as so funny.  So I guess you can be the judge.

This confirms all my worst fears about airport security

I think everybody sort of agrees that airport security seems to be full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.  The restrictions seem to cause a lot of difficulty for the average person, yet I don’t see how they are hindering terrorism in any way.

Well, it turns out, they don’t.

This guy basically pushes the envelope trying to see at what point he will be stopped by security.  I don’t think he ever was.  And when I say pushes the envelope, I don’t mean sneaking some nail clippers on.  I’m talking about knives, rope, fake boarding passes, and ounces and ounces of unidentified liquids.  At one point he had a tee-shirt that said “Osama Bin Laden, Hero of Islam” and a Hezbolla flag and the TSA agent searching his bag had no comment!  My favorite part is when his friend had two 12 ounce containers of an unidentified liquid that he hand labeled, “saline solution”.  The security guy said, “Why do you need two bottles of saline?” and he said “Two eyes.”  He was allowed to pass unchecked.

In some cases, the illusion of security is worse than no security at all because people become complacent.

New Graduate

Congratulations to my brother-in-law Ben for joining the ranks of the educated!

Good job graduating right during the worst economic downturn in ages! 😛

Just kidding, good luck in your job search.

Me, Myself and Tapeworm

Okay, it’s not like you really wanted a tapeworm to begin with.  But after reading this horrifying (humorous) account of “the worm within” describing what it is like to have one, you will surely feel all squirmy inside.  It is well written and the illustrations are great.  Like me, after reading it you will wish you hadn’t, yet you will somehow not regret it!

Smell my Gas

This morning I smelled a foul smell and I wasn’t sure where it was coming from.  Obviously, Evie’s diaper was the first thing I checked.  Once that was all clear I didn’t think much about it.  Later I was in the kitchen and I smelled it again.  This time I was standing by the trash which had a chicken container in it, so I assumed it was that.  I tied up the trash bag and left the room.  Later, I was back in the kitchen I again smelled the wretched smell.  This time I ran the garbage disposal for awhile thinking maybe there was something rotten in there.  Finally Sara said, “Wait, doesn’t it smell like gas?”

And it did.  Because the gas stove had been on low with no flame since dinner last night!

Thank god we figured it out and aired the place out some before somebody passed out or we tried to light the stove!  So if you’re still looking for a Christmas present for me, perhaps we could use a little canary in a cage in our kitchen!
