Okay, yesterday the most bizarre thing happened. Sara had the idea to google people we used to know from high school and see if we could find anything about what they’re up to. So I decided to look for my friend Anastasia. I probably haven’t seen her for like 6 years or something but we were really friends in middle school and high school. Anyway, after quite a few searches I ended up hitting her myspace page. Now here’s where it gets weird…she just moved to Philly!!! What are the odds of THAT? So I don’t have a myspace account so Sara’s brother sent her a message and she emailed me back. I mean this is seriously blowing my mind right now.
My So Called Life
Just recovered from my food coma
Happy (late) Thanksgiving!
Pretty good Thanksgiving, we played TONS of games. Hands and Feet, B.S., Taboo, Catch Phrase, Trivial Pursuit 90s Edition, Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture, and Scene It. There might have been more and some games had repeat performances. We bought “card-playing food” at Trader Joes (chips, chocolate covered peanuts, etc.) and snacked until we almost puked. Come to think of it, the next morning Sara’s sister puked in a pillow case in the car on the way home, so I guess we DID eat until we puked! 😛
The in-laws left early Saturday morning and we didn’t do a THING all day Saturday. Just lounged around and watched T.V. and ate leftover turkey sandwiches (mmmm leftover turkey sandwiches) and didn’t even get out of our P.J.s. This is some much needed vacation.
Dad: “Our cat Rita died.”
Me: “Did she get hit by a car?”
Dad: “No, she got sick. She had a…what do you call it? A protruded asshole.”
Sharon: “John! Say bowel.”
Dad: “A protruded bowel coming out of her ass. She had one and we took her to the vet and it cost $25 to fix it. Then about a week later she got two more, each bigger than an apple. You could tell she was in a lot of pain. I didn’t want to pay $50 for another operation so I shot her in the back of the head.”
Me: “You shot her?? With your pistol??”
Dad: “Yeah. Sharon better hope she never gets hemorrhoids.”
Go Pack GO
Last week was the week of hell.
I had to give a presentation in my class on Monday and then I worked all 7 days for a total of 60 hours. I’ve worked every weekend for the past 6 or 7 weeks. Plus everybody’s temper is short so I’ve been yelled at a few times lately. Seems like I can’t do anything right, although I think that’s more that everybody is stressed out. The deadline was last Friday and I’m still not done with everything. It has really been brutal. I could go into more details, but frankly I’m too tired. Also, Sara’s family is coming for Thanksgiving, which is great, but we have a lot of cleaning to do before then.
And now, the ages old debate, do I stay up late to watch the Packer’s game even though I have to get up early and it might just kill me?
Decisions, decisions.
Baltimore
So we went to Baltimore on Saturday, and I had a really good time!
First off, our directions from google maps were terrible and we got very lost and also had to pay $4 in extraneous tolls. Then there was some sort of accident in the tunnel, but they got it cleared out in about 10 minutes so we didn’t have to wait very long. We got quite the tour of greater Baltimore as we took every possible wrong turn. Finally, we ate lunch at a great seafood place named Bertha’s and walked around a little bit. We tried to go to Edgar Allen Poe’s house but it was in like the worst neighborhood possible and we didn’t even want to get out of the car. Then we went to Poe’s grave which was in a nicer neighborhood and took some pictures. We wandered around the inner harbor for awhile, but I wasn’t all that impressed with it. It’s like if you turned the KOP mall inside out. Everything was chains. I liked the area we were in first (by Bertha’s) a lot better. It was much more quaint and unique. Anyway, we went to the national aquarium which was really cool but maybe not worth the $20 apiece. There were lots of sharks and this really cool huge tank when you first came in with some sharks and lots of manta rays. I also liked this tank right at the end with seahorses.
So finally it came time to go to the Ben Fold’s concert. It was AWESOME!

Encore: The Luckiest
So that was pretty much awesome. Great show.
In other news, I had a big presentation in class tonight, so I’m glad that’s over. Also, this week is really going to suck because we have a delivery next week. Also, I don’t think I mentioned it, but the in-laws decided to come down for Thanksgiving. So lots of big things coming up!
Ah, Sunday
I’m writing this post from my new football command post in the spare room with my desktop and the small T.V. It’s everything I hoped it would be! 🙂 AND the Packers game is actually on T.V. here in PA since they’re playing the Stillers.
Ugh, the Packers. What a mess. They’ll be lucky to win another game this year. It’s gotten so bad that they had to pick up a WR named Taco! No seriously: Taco Ordered (their title not mine, I can’t take credit).
I’ve been working overtime the past few weekends and this week was no excpetion. I don’t mind though because I get a lot done and I get paid for it too. But one thing that makes work a little more bearable is konfabulator. You install this program and then you can download widgets which do all kinds of things. Each one is sort of like a little specialized web-browser window. For example, I have one that showes me football scores, one that showes me the weather, one that gives me a daily Dilbert cartoon and one I can double-click for a Napolean Dynamite sound clip. How can you beat that??
So next weekend is going to be awesome. Sara’s friend from home is visting her brother in Baltimore so we’re going to go hang out all day followed by a Ben Folds concert!! It’s going to be a cool concert too, he’s playing with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. I’m excited to see which songs he’ll play.
