Weird Sandwiches

When I was little, we used to eat something called a “Tiger Sandwich” which was a peanut butter and butter sandwich (get it, it has stripes like a tiger).

At the time it didn’t seem gross, though I have to admit, as of right now it doesn’t sound too appetizing. That being said, it doesn’t sound more disgusting than butter on a ham sandwich, something my mom insisted on making.

On the other hand, for lunch today I had a PB and cheese sandwich, which is quite delicious. Sara thinks this is so disgusting, so she consequently asks everybody their opinion. Far and away, everybody seems to agree that it is gross.

So now I’m opening this up to wider audience (and trying out the poll do hickey). What say you? And leave other sandwiches that you like but other people find disgusting in the comments.

  1. OK so I know she is just going to say that it doesn’t matter because I eat “weird” food but… ALL OF THOSE SOUND GREAT.

p.s. At the farmer’s market they sell cheese with bacon already in it. So if you take that and put it with peanut butter and grill it = amazing!

    • That doesn’t sound too bad…it’s like a pizza on a sandwich!

People probably object to the anchovies, but it’s not fair to say it’s bad just because you don’t like anchovies. I don’t like pretzels, but that doesn’t mean I can’t understand that people who like pretzels would like them.

I don’t think that made any sense.

  3. Ok, here’s one that I grew up with that makes me go wtf? (and why would they ever feed that to a kid?!): a butter and brown sugar sandwich. Yeah, slathered in butter w/ big ol’ hunks of brown sugar covering the whole thing. I don’t know why they didn’t top it off with some crack.

    • See, that one doesn’t sound that bad to me either! I mean, if it was butter and brown sugar on toast, it wouldn’t sound weird at all.

But maybe I am just a weird sandwich eater and my opinion shouldn’t be counted. 🙂

  4. Oh man those other posts just reminded me of a sandwhich i created a while back. It’s a peanut butter raisin and bologna sandwhich. My cousins friend later added jalapeno chips to it they are both good.

  6. I say, don’t knock it ’til you try it. Additionally, they do sell peanut butter and cheese crackers, and they are delicious!

  7. In elementary school (back when there was only ONE option in hot lunch) I wouldn’t eat the fishwich. They were all pre-assembled, so I’d just quietly take the sandwich and wait until the end of the counter when I would give the sandwich to a different lunch lady who would remove the crusty fish patty – leaving breadcrumbs and the accompanying slice of american cheese – and slather the bun with peanut butter out of those huge pb drums they always had. They would remove the fish, but not the cheese, so odd. But it was either eat the pb&cheese, or go without. And I’m not one to go without a meal. I remember being suspicious, but liking it once I tried it. It became a fairly familiar meal.

More, possibly, disgusting is how they always served mashed potatoes w/ gravy, chicken nuggets, a cheese stick, and 1 slice of white bread. 80% of the school population would spread the potatoes & gravy on the bread, add the cheese and two/three nuggets, fold over and eat. YUM!
