    This quiz sucks at accuracy. How did I score 0% in Midwestern and 5% in Upper Midwestern? I totally talk like a Midwesterner!

    Actually, I guess I talk like a Hoosier. I went and looked up the Indiana results of the study this is based on, and I’m probably at least 70% in line with the majority Indiana answer. And most of the ones I differed on were a really close runner-up.

  5. Just out of curiosity I made one of the French guys at work (the one with the worst accent) take it.

    He is 60% General American English
    25% Yankee
    10% Dixie
    0% Midwestern
    0% Upper Midwestern

    It is interesting because I thought “midwestern” was supposed to be the default American accent and yet he learned English outside of the U.S. and he is 0%!
