Alas, the Fort Wayne Wizards (amazing baseball!) are no more.  They changed their name to the Fort Wayne Tin Caps.  That’s right, the Fort Wayne Tin Caps.

Fear inspiring as a logo, isn’t it?  This is, of course, based on the fact that Johnny Appleseed is buried in Fort Wayne.  Couldn’t they at least be the Johnny Appleseeds?  Or something else that actually makes sense?  Just…anything else in the whole world?  

How about the Wizards?

I’m not against clever names, such as the Fort Wayne Mad Ants based on “Mad” Anthony Wayne for which the city is named.  That is clever because it also makes sense.  But Tin Caps?  TIN CAPS??

And by the way, when I hear “Tin Cap” I don’t think of Johnny Appleseed.  I think of this guy:
