I don’t know if I have mentioned Etsy on here before. I thought I had, but I couldn’t find it. Anyway, it is a cool online store that makes it easy for people to buy and sell homemade items. There are a lot of really cool things on there and a lot of niche gifts and things you can’t buy in stores. For example, you may be having trouble finding the bacon related items you desire in the store, but a quick search on Etsy will turn up:
I want to give a shout-out to Youtube Playlists. Fantastic! I listen to my headphones a lot at work and sometimes I want to hear something different. Usually, if you search for any song in the world you can think of on youtube, you’ll get a video of some sort. So basically you can hear any song you want. The only problem is that when the song is done, you have to find a new video. So, every 3 minutes or so, you have to go back to the webpage and at least click on another video (if it is related) or do another search. Not very productive! But now you can search for a playlist. So people make lists of whatever they want and the videos will play consecutively. So now I can listen for hours without having to do anything! Lovely.
In other news, I saw this trailer for a movie during the superbowl and I thought to myself, “Hmm, this looks like a pretty cool movie.” And what should the movie be other than G.I. Joe the movie! Arguably the best cartoon of my youth, although I am not willing to put it above He-man. So I’m singing the theme song today and I keep singing “He’ll fight for evil, whenever there’s trouble, GI Joe is there!” So either I’m remembering it wrong or I was seriously misunderstanding that cartoon…here I thought they were the good guys! Whenever there is trouble GI Joe is there indeed. The weird part about turning a cartoon into a live action movie is that I can’t imagine that theme song playing without being cheesy. I’m sure that means we will be treated to a special rap version of the song or something, ruining our collective childhood once again.
So enjoy it while it lasts I guess:
(and by the way, he fights for freedom)
And, just to tie everything together, here is a playlist of those hilarious re-dubbed G.I. Joe PSAs.
For my birthday, Anna got me a chocolate / bacon bar.
I have bloggedmanytimes about all manner of sweet things involving bacon, however, I have never actually tried any of them. So this was actually a first! As I have stated, I don’t really like to mix sweet and salty things, so I was a little nervous about this. It was actually pretty good though! Well, three out of five people didn’t like it much. I wouldn’t want to eat it all the time, it was definitely a novelty item, but it was pretty good. It was pretty dark chocolate, which I normally don’t like, but it worked perfectly with this. It smelled like bacon and had little bacon pieces. It is hard to describe exactly what it tasted like…kind of like bacon and chocolate. That being said, it was nothing like I expected.
So, in summary, give it a try! It was worth it. But don’t buy a case of it!
Papa Johns has a thing going where if the opening kickoff of the Superbowl is returned for a touchdown, you can get a pizza for a quarter. The catch is you have to sign up here before the game.
Sure this is unlikely to happen and sure they are going to take your email address and send you crap, but are you telling me you don’t have an email address you use to sign up for this kind of stuff?
Well fine, don’t do it then, but I just thought I’d let you know as a reward for being such a loyal reader.
Today I was walking through the grocery store and I saw something amazing:
“We have to buy this” I said, “so I can blog about it.” It was even on sale. So, it is a giant whipped cream can that contains pancake batter (as the name implies). You spray it on the pan and, boom, pancakes. It actually comes out a lot thicker than I was expecting, but then somehow the pancakes turn out really thin. Maybe because of the thinness or something about the batter, but I was able to make them all look perfectly done. I was very excited about these pancakes, but it turns out they weren’t that good. Well, at least I should say that I didn’t like them as well as regular pancakes. They are a little sweeter and have a different sort of taste. It is hard to describe. Also, they were a little tough. On the other hand though, there were no dishes to clean up and dinner took like no time at all. So I would definitely recommend it for people in a hurry or for those lazy bachelors and college students. Also, Sara pointed out it could be good for camping.
So, long story short, idea is A double plus, the implementation is meh. I should also mention though, that it didn’t occur to me that you could write or draw with the pancakes until I was doing image searches for this post. That certainly adds another dimension!
