Normally Sara cuts my hair, but lately we have been very short on time. I’m sure everybody feels that way when they have a baby, but with both of us working we are really just trying to make it from day to day. And since I can’t usually get much work done on Friday, I am usually trying to fit work in Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun whenever I can. So my hair was really getting out of control and I decided to just pay to get it cut. I can’t even find time to do that! So I finally convinced her to cut my hair after Evie went to bed.
When I was getting the razor out my hand snagged on a tag that was in the box reminding you to keep your razor well oiled. Well I never do and it makes an awful noise, sounding something like “Oil can! Oil can!” So I had the razor all set up, but I decided to oil it except it had been so long since I used the oil that it apparently all evaporated or something! So I couldn’t oil it and I sat down and took my glasses off and Sara started shaving. We both kind of thought, “Wow, that is a lot of hair!” After she had shaved two large, non-consecutive swatches in the side of my head she stopped and said, “Is this how short it normally is?” I was like, “Yes, of course, #2 guard like always!” but I put on my glasses and took a look.
Here’s the problem.
I took off the guard to oil it and I didn’t put it back on before I handed it to her. So I have two nearly bald paths up the side of my head! I begged her to use the #2 guard and try to blend it somehow, but it was so far away from being able to be blended that Sara actually laughed until she peed a little at the suggestion. We really had no choice but to go with the #1 guard and you can still see that there are two parts that are a little thinner, despite our attempts to blend it. Sara said, “You have the craziest stories, but they’re all your fault.”
So now I have some really short hair, but it actually doesn’t look too bad.
Think Andre Agassi or Stanley Tucci

(Hopefully more Andre Agassi and less Stanley Tucci)
