Kid after Dentist

Okay, you’ve probably all seen this already since it has been all over the Internet. I always feel like I am the last person to post these things, but then again maybe my readers aren’t internet nerds.

It seems awful to laugh at this poor stoned kid, but man is it funny. I feel so bad for him, especially when he says things like, “Why is this happening to me?” and “Is this forever?”

Superbowl Tweets

For those of you not familiar with the world of Twitter, be happy.  It is kind of a cross between old school away messages and new school facebook status updates.  Basically, on your twitter, you put up little one word sentences or pictures (called “tweets”) that describe what you are doing at any given moment. “Hey, I had eggs for breakfast this morning” or “The guy in front of me in Starbucks right now is annoying” or “here is a picture to demonstrate the color of my toe fungus” or “right now, as you are reading this, I’m dropping a massive deuce”.  As you can see, there’s virtually no reason for this technology to exist! But, then again, since you are reading my blog right now and it is essentially the same thing just in long form; I don’t have much room to complain.

Okay, now that the explanations are out of the way, check this out.  Basically they monitored all superbowl related messages on twitter.  The more a word was mentioned, the larger the word appears on the map. The words also appear on the map geographically where they were sent.  So, for example, you see a lot of “Steelers” up by Pennsylvania and a lot of “Cardinals” down by Arizona. You can hit “play” and walk through time as the game progresses.  Important events of the game are marked on the timeline.  So, for example, right after the Cardinals score, you will see all of a sudden everybody uses the word “Cardinals”.  Boy, as I write that it doesn’t sound that interesting, but I swear it is!  I guess you have to see it.  Also, the words are color coded red or black for the Cardinals or Steelers respectively, where applicable.

You can also mess around with the filters on the left hand side.  My favorite is filtering on player names.  Larry Fitzgerald didn’t do much at the beginning of the game, but then blew up at the end.  So you see his name showing up more and more until it just *explodes* at the end.  A scary one is to do the commercials filter and see what effect the commercials had on the minds of America. And the commercials weren’t even that good this year!

Slimy Cheese

Okay, it has come up over and over that I don’t mind eating cheese that has been sitting in the sun. Specifically, there was an incident when we were camping last summer.  A plate of cheese that hadn’t been used on the burgers ended up sitting in the sun for awhile and it got a little…slimy.  Not wanting to waste food, and not minding the taste of warmed cheese, I ate it. Apparently some people find that gross. So here, presented in full for the first time, is my defense.

Okay, first let me say that cheese that has been warming in the sun is actually quite delicious. If you haven’t tried it then you really shouldn’t be saying anything. I have it on good authority from the 5 French guys I work with, that warm cheese, not cold, is actually the proper way to eat it. If you heard these guys talking about their cheese, you would understand that they are experts. The properties of cheese change depending on what temperature they are at, so it doesn’t taste exactly like cold cheese. Now, if you have tried it and didn’t like it, that’s fine. We don’t all have to like the same things. That being said, you can’t *love* regular cheese and *detest* slightly warmed cheese.  It’s not THAT different. Furthermore, I think we can all agree that the best and tastiest cheese is melted cheese! So you REALLY can’t say that you *love* cold cheese and *really love* hot cheese but *detest* cheese that is very, very similar to the hot cheese that you really love. That just doesn’t make sense.

And what are you objecting to on the cheese anyway? Especially if you haven’t actually tried it? It can’t be the texture because that is similar to melted cheese. The oil and stuff on the cheese? Well guess what? All of that oil is in that cheese! It doesn’t come from somewhere else! When you are eating cold cheese that oil is inside of it, even if you can’t see it.

So what do you think, warmish cheese yes or no? Vote in the comments.

Bacon Gift Ideas

I don’t know if I have mentioned Etsy on here before. I thought I had, but I couldn’t find it. Anyway, it is a cool online store that makes it easy for people to buy and sell homemade items.  There are a lot of really cool things on there and a lot of niche gifts and things you can’t buy in stores.  For example, you may be having trouble finding the bacon related items you desire in the store, but a quick search on Etsy will turn up:

Bacon and eggs onesies for your twins:

Bacon Vegan Soap:

Or a nice little sign:

Indeed, bacon IS like a little hug from God!

Playlists

I want to give a shout-out to Youtube Playlists.  Fantastic!  I listen to my headphones a lot at work and sometimes I want to hear something different.  Usually, if you search for any song in the world you can think of on youtube, you’ll get a video of some sort.  So basically you can hear any song you want.  The only problem is that when the song is done, you have to find a new video. So, every 3 minutes or so, you have to go back to the webpage and at least click on another video (if it is related) or do another search.  Not very productive!  But now you can search for a playlist.  So people make lists of whatever they want and the videos will play consecutively.  So now I can listen for hours without having to do anything!  Lovely.

In other news, I saw this trailer for a movie during the superbowl and I thought to myself, “Hmm, this looks like a pretty cool movie.” And what should the movie be other than G.I. Joe the movie!  Arguably the best cartoon of my youth, although I am not willing to put it above He-man. So I’m singing the theme song today and I keep singing “He’ll fight for evil, whenever there’s trouble, GI Joe is there!” So either I’m remembering it wrong or I was seriously misunderstanding that cartoon…here I thought they were the good guys! Whenever there is trouble GI Joe is there indeed. The weird part about turning a cartoon into a live action movie is that I can’t imagine that theme song playing without being cheesy.  I’m sure that means we will be treated to a special rap version of the song or something, ruining our collective childhood once again.

So enjoy it while it lasts I guess:

(and by the way, he fights for freedom)

And, just to tie everything together, here is a playlist of those hilarious re-dubbed G.I. Joe PSAs.
