Why is it so hard to find an apartment? Sara says it’s because we are picky, but I think it’s mostly because apartment advertisements are dishonest. They try to portray themselves in the best light including distorting maps as much as possible to appear close to everything. So I have to spend 10 minutes trying to find where each appartment actually is, only to discover its nowhere near where it says it is!

Also, didn’t plan on working on my paper tonight, but slave driver group member forced my hand.

I did get a LOT done tonight though. Grocery Store, laundry, organized guitar tabs, looked up apartment stuff, plus other little things.

I’m already dreading going to class tomorrow. 😦

Another weekend comes to a close…

Way too short, as usual.

Finally finished Wolves of the Calla. It was magnificent! I wish I could read the next one, except it will probably be 3 years before it comes out. 😦

Spent like 8 hours this weekend working on my stupid paper for class. Here’s the thing, it’s only the second week of class. If this slave driving wench in my group keeps this up, we’ll have the whole paper done in week 3! And I think she’ll be pissed that it took us so long! She already sent her 1/3 of the paper out for approval. Keep in mind we have 5 more weeks to do this. She wants us to get it done early though because she just wants to rewrite it. Grrr.

I couldn’t help out with her problems installing her scanner tonight, which I feel bad about. It’s just so hard to help someone with something when you can’t see what they’re doing and they’re trying to describe it to you and you’re not even at your computer as a frame of reference. She was upset at me for not being able to help, but I know it was mostly just because she was frustrated, as I would have been. Oh well, I’m used to that. People wouldn’t have to get upset at me for not knowing these things if they didn’t insist on calling me in the first place!! Just because I’m a programmer doesn’t mean I know shit about how Windows XP handles device drivers. I have my own problems with stupid ZoneAlarm that I still can’t get working. I just gave up on it. Boo ZoneAlarm! >:o

John: “Oh my God, are you crying over Sopranos?”
Melissa: “It was sad! He was crying at the end!”
John: “Jesus Christ, I hope I never grow a vagina.”
Melissa: “Me too babe.”

I’m very sad that they’re moving to South Jersey in a week and a half! ::pout::

Dawna the Dead

Went with Tony, Dawna and Jeff to see Dawn of the Dead tonight. FAN-EFFING-TASTIC! I was so excited to see this movie and it completely lived up to my expectations. I’m a big horror buff and I don’t get scared by movies, but I have to say this one freaked me out. An instant classic and one of the best zombie movies of all time. Not for the faint of heart! Anybody who wants to outlaw handguns should have to see this movie…even the biggest opponent won’t mind having one around just in case zombies take over!

SO frustrated

I accidentally downloaded the trial version of ZoneAlarm Pro rather than the actual free version of ZoneAlarm, so my trial version expired. I uninstalled it and installed the free version instead. I then proceeded to spend 2 1/2 hours trying to get internet on my laptop. Everything seems to be working fine on my desktop (the machine running ZoneAlarm) but no matter how I try and set things up, my laptop is just internet-less. If I turn off ZoneAlarm, my laptop instantly has internet. If I set it so that programs have to ask for access to the internet and then try to bring up IE or AIM off my laptop, ZoneAlarm instantly tells me, “Hey! Someone’s trying to get on the internet!” to which I obviously reply, “Hey that’s great, why don’t you let them!” Of course it doesn’t work though. I have nothing else to try.

Weekend Update

This was actually a surprisingly active weekend!

So after our failure to do much of anything on Friday night, Dawna came through with an idea for Saturday night. We went to Dave and Busters. It’s kind of like an adult playground. Well, I guess it’s mostly an arcade but they serve alcohol and stuff there. There’s also a restaurant with a CRAZY wait. We waited 2 1/2 hours, but when we went to check on how the list was doing I overheard him telling someone it was a 4 hour wait! We somehow managed to spend about 6 hours at Dave and Busters, but the time flew by. Also, I managed to only spend $20 (I ate before we went) which was WAY less than I thought I would. Go me.

Today I watched a zombie movie marathon on sci-fi while I did homework for 4 hours, among other things. You really can’t beat a good zombie movie. Get pumped for Dawn of the Dead on Friday!!! Then tonight I went over to John and Melissa’s to watch Sopranos. They convinced me to stay and watch Curb Your Enthusiasm, which is a fantastic show as well.

Finally, I’ve been reading Wolves of the Calla all weekend. It is FAAAANTASTIC! I’m having big troubles putting it down and getting stuff that I need to do done. On the plus side, I aught to be through it pretty quick…then I can get back to the things I need to do.
