Last weekend

So last weekend we flew to Chicago to attend Sara’s old college roommate Amy’s wedding.  The wedding was on Sat. but we took Thur. and Fri. off so we could spend some vacation time in the Windy City.  And why go to Chicago if you’re not going to experience some authentic Chicago weather?  It was like 50 and rainy the whole time we were there.

Thur. night we stayed with Dabu and went to dinner with MY old college roommate Chad and our friend Mike D (not of Beastie Boys fame).  We went to some tapas place, and it was really good.

Friday we went to the field museum in the morning and we got soaked on the way there.  I love the field museum because I absolutely LOVE dioramas!!  Seriously!  Sara hates them though (why?), so I don’t think she enjoyed it as much as I did.  We also saw the stuffed cadavers of the lions from the Ghost in the Darkness and Sue the T-Rex.  That’s a good museum.

After the museum we met up with our friends Alexis and Gregory and picked up our stuff from Dabu’s and then we ate at some Mexican place that had good margaritas and then we went to see Second City.  It’s a really good sketch comedy group in Chicago.  It was really funny and probably the highlight of the trip.  Oh, also on Friday, we got some bad directions from Dabu and had to walk like 10 extra blocks in the freezing rain trying to find a Swatch store.  That was probably the low point of the trip.

The wedding was nice and all, but we hardly got to see Amy at all.  Not much else to report.  It was a pretty good trip all in all.

Also, I usually fly US Air, but let me tell you, on the way back we flew I think American Air and it was the best plane ride I ever had!!  Not only did we have twice as much leg room, they gave us Tostitos instead of pretzels.  I hate pretzels.

The Treadmill

So we bought this treadmill…

My exercise bike is stuck in super high gear because it came faulty such that you can’t turn down the resistance. So Sara hates it and won’t work out on it. But she wanted to have *something* to work out with and neither of us would go to a gym or ::shudder:: go outside to workout, so a treadmill it is.

I was against the treadmill because everyone I ever met who owns exercise equipment just has it sitting in some back room and it’s never used. Now I’m fine with that, but if that’s the destiny of all exercise equipment, why not buy something that costs less than $1,000.

That being said, this treadmill is freaking sweet. It has all these programs you can do that adjusts the speed and incline as you go. I like that it forces you to do some workout program and you can’t slow down because you’ll come shooting off the back.

The treadmill shakes the whole apartment and sometimes things fall off of the TV shelf thing. I already apologized to the people below us, but they said they didn’t mind they just wondered what the hell that noise was. They said it was payback for their baby crying all the time, but we never hear their baby.

One bad thing is that it takes up the entire living room. I wish it had some sweet racing stripes or flames or something on the side. Then it would be like art.

Sara and I also bought running shoes. Now when does the fat start sloughing off?

Sandals

I finally got around to uploading the pictures of my new sandals as compared to my old sandals. I probably should have done it sooner because my new ones don’t look pristine anymore, but I think you can still figure out which pair is 10 years old. Enjoy:

Damn you Detroit Lions

First you beat Green Bay in the season opener robbing me of my dignity, but then you break Javon Walker and screw the Packers over for the whole season!!

Damn you!!
