I’ve been playing The Black Knight a lot lately.  I think the strategy is to ignore buying weapons until you can get the mace, but buy at least the amulet and the strength potion every time.  Actually, I think there is no strategy because I swear it’s random as to whether there’s even enough stuff in the level to get you enough money to continue.

But come on, who can complain about a game where you beat up helpless peasents with large weapons to collect tax money?  And the music is so cheery!

What is it about old school simple games that are so much more enthralling than newer, much more complicated games?  I can play a scrolling-spaceship-shooter like this for hours.

Get the homing missiles and the purple gun and you’re unstoppable.
