How did nobody ever think of this before?

Cheese pencils. So simple! So brilliant!

No seriously, I’m not joking. Flavored cheese pencils that you can use with a simple pencil sharpener.

Looks like they have a few flavors, such as pesto and chili. Am I crazy, or is this brilliant? I wonder if you can actually write with the pencils. This could work for other things as well. I look forward to a time when all of our seasonings come in pencil format, rather than heavy glass jars which crash out of my cabinet and destroy any glasses waiting below.

The Honey Badger

Someone was talking about the fierce Honey Badger and how it simply does not give a shit about anything or any other animals, and I had no idea what they were talking about. So I looked it up, and of course it is another Internet meme that I am the last to know about.

Nonetheless, it is endlessly entertaining. I think this guy should narrate every animal show. It’s his amazing commentary and insight into the life of a Honey Badger that makes the whole thing interesting, more-so than the  actual animal itself.

And now we’re all on the same page: nothing can stop the Honey Badger when it’s hungry.

Patchwork Products

I know lots of people who have made quilts from old tee shirts. Some of these ideas are particularly unique, but I’ve never seen any ideas as unique as this: heavy metal quilts, using old concert shirts to make a logo that is distinctly metal:

And while we’re on the topic, how about using little carpet squares to make customized land carpet:

Well, I’ll just let them explain:

CinematoGIFs

I’ve seen some of these on the Internet before, but I finally found the source of them. Basically they take stills from famous movies and turn them into animated gifs. Usually the effect is very subtle, with only some parts moving and the rest remaining motionless.

I don’t know what it is about these things, but they are fascinating to stare at. And they do tend toward the creepy:

And some you could just stare at for hours….

Anyway, there are tons of them on the website. Anybody have any particular favorites?

Ostrich Eggs…tell me you don’t want to try that

These days it seems like there are all kinds of fancy stuff showing up in super markets. I guess it’s easier to ship around the world, and people are always curious about trying new things (or at least showing off their fanciness to other people, if nothing else).

Why not ostrich eggs?

One egg weighs about 3 1/2 pounds and can apparently create an omelette big enough to feed 15 adults. It takes an hour to boil them.

I would definitely give it a try, but that’s a big egg. Are there 14 other people willing to try an omelette with me?

The article also mentions these crazy potatoes:

Originally the world’s most expensive potato, selling for £400 a kilo in the UK and $300 a pound in the USA, they are now being grown in Jersey instead of France at the friendly price of £2.65 a kilo.

They used to be $300 a pound??? How good can a potato be?? And if they’re that good, and now they’re only about $2 a pound, why aren’t we all eating  La Bonnotte super-potatoes exclusively? Probably because they just taste like regular potatoes, and were artificially expensive to make them sound exclusive.

Even still, I’m dying to try them!
