I had to close my old Philly bank account today. Actually closing the account was easy, but it took me like 15 minutes to navigate their impenetrable automated system. I still think the only reason I got through was it recognized that I wasn’t leaving and transferred me as a reward for my patience. I was just going around and around in the system with no option to close an account or talk to an actual person. I even hung up and called back thinking maybe I had chosen the wrong option early on. There was just no possible way to talk to a person! And then, out of nowhere, it just transferred me to a person randomly without me doing anything! Then, once I talked to the person, it was like the easiest thing ever, she just closed it out in like 2 seconds.
